Palace Project
There is not a firm launch date but we hope to have resources available sometime in December. In the meantime, you can still download the app and access their free resources (mostly open access and non-copyright materials). This is a good opportunity to get to know the app while you are waiting for our content to be live. Here is an explanation of what you might find in the Palace app before our content is loaded: "Columbia University partnered with Lyrasis to launch The Palace Project, a unified mobile e-reading and collection hosting platform built on the Open Publication Distribution System (OPDS) protocol. As part of this initiative, Columbia integrated digitized special collections hosted via the Internet Archive, which already supported OPDS. The university also collaborated with publishers such as Johns Hopkins Press and Cassellini Torrosa to make licensed ebooks accessible through Palace. To further expand access, Columbia connected third-party services like Springer Nature and ProQuest through OPDS integration. This approach enabled students and faculty to access both open-access and licensed ebooks through a single mobile interface—no VPN required." --taken from publisher website.
Sunday, November 2: This is the final day you can check out any items in the Boundless app.
Monday, November 17: The Boundless app will stop functioning and be fully retired.
The titles in Boundless were purchased by eRead Illinois and most of them should be carried over to the new platform. New titles will most likely be added.
Palace is an app, not a website so there is not a patron-facing portal for users to visit in a browser. Users must use a device that allows apps to be downloaded. "The Palace app is currently supported on iOS and Android phones and tablets. Additionally, the App will support the latest version of Android and Apple (iOS) operating systems and the two preceding versions." --taken from publisher site. Visit the link for more information.
Boundless materials can be accessed through multiple devices including your computer.
Take a screenshot or record any books you had in a list that you may want to review in the future.
Records will be added as soon as possible after our content is made available. Unlike Boundless, you will not be able to link directly from our catalog into the Palace Project. If you discover a title in our catalog, you will need to open the Palace Project app and search for the title within the app.
Records will disappear from our catalog sometime around Monday, November 3.
