FAQ about finding sources

Type of source	How to find...
Subject-specific reference books	Search an electronic book collection, e.g. Credo Reference or Gale Virtual Reference Do a search in BLISweb, Benner’s online catalog. Limit to “reference” location. Get suggested titles from Dewey Decimal lists. Browse 1st -floor Reference collection, using Dewey numbers.
Books	Search BLISweb: searches only Benner Library’s holdings. Search I-Share: searches the combined holdings of 75 library partners in Illinois. Use library ID number to request books from another library. Pick them up at Benner. Allow up to 3 days for delivery, plus time to read the book! Search WorldCat: shared catalog of partner libraries in the USA and abroad. Use InterLibrary Loan icon to request delivery to Benner. Allow 7-10 days. Try an electronic book, e.g. ebrary or a specific title.
Articles	If you already know which one you want, choose a database directly from the A-Z list of Library Databases. Need a suggestion, go to the correct subject guide and choose from the databases listed. Get personal suggestions from a librarian. Do an All-at-Once Search, to see which database(s) cover your topic well.
Free websites	Review the “selected sites” & “government sites” on library subject guides Try a directory created by a librarian, e.g. Internet Public Library Librarian’s Internet Index Infomine Use a free search engine like Google, Bing, etc.
