Q: Which words should I use when doing a search?

A. If you're trying to be efficient in your searching, it's important to know the difference between keywords and subject headings.

Here's an effective strategy:
  1. Do a keyword seach, using words that you think of, to describe your topic.

  2. Then, find a result that looks relevant.

  3. Look at the details for the relevant result. Which subject headings or descriptors (controlled vocabulary) are listed?

  4. Click on one of them to do a new search for more articles/books on this exact topic
